Career exploration class tours TV and radio broadcast facility
Continuing their series of visits to area businesses, the Beacon High School Career Exploration class recently toured the broadcast studio and offices of the Boston CBS affiliate WBZ.
The students were treated to a fascinating tour of the TV studios and radio station, and they learned about the many aspects of broadcasting, including the production, sales, and promotion of TV news and other programs. Community service hours bring activities to younger students
On Friday, October 21, six Beacon High School students visited the Walker Needham campus to participate in activities with young students from the Walker School.
Organized by the Beacon guidance team, the visit gave Beacon students the opportunity to fulfill community services hours required for graduation, while providing fun activities for children in the Walker residential and day-school programs.

Post-High School Planning Night at Beacon proved to be a big hit last week, with 25 parents attending—the most ever for the annual informational session created to help families support students’ post-graduation transition.

Wayside program featured in MetroWest Daily News article
Kira, a Beacon student is one of 17 students who participated in Photo Voice, a component of an alternative therapy program run by the Wayside Youth and Family Support Network of Framingham in partnership with the state’s Department of Mental Health.

Last week the Beacon High School Career Exploration class visited Mount Auburn Hospital for a special guided tour coordinated by Beacon High School teacher Frank Tassone. A representative from the National Outdoors Leadership School (NOLS) was at Beacon High School last week to offer students and their families a glimpse at a unique educational experience. Beacon to host standarized test on October 12th
Beacon students who wish to register for the PSAT should contact Theresa Melito in the guidance office. The test will be administered at Beacon High School on Wednesday, October 12th.
Students are encouraged to take the PSAT if they plan to graduate in the next 2-3 years. There is a $20 registration fee. Cash, checks, and money orders are accepted and can be made out to Beacon High School.
