Kira, a Beacon student is one of 17 students who participated in Photo Voice, a component of an alternative therapy program run by the Wayside Youth and Family Support Network of Framingham in partnership with the state’s Department of Mental Health.

Photo Voice combines photography with social and personal empowerment, as students use images to illustrate and document their lives. The program was recently featured in an article in the Metrowest Daily News.

A varsity swimmer on the Burlington High School team, Kira credits Beacon with helping her regain a clear focus on her future. “I made crazy mistakes, but now I am graduating early from high school and looking forward to college and hopeful for the life ahead of me.”
