Parent Support-Advisory Group
The Beacon High School Parent Support-Advisory Group is a support group for the parents and guardians of Beacon High School students, facilitated by members of the Beacon High School clinical and education teams.
Meetings are held at the school and generally have an open format. Participants will have the opportunity to meet other parents, raise concerns, share helpful information, and connect to a supportive school community.
Each meeting has a suggested topic, but those who attend the meetings will determine the agenda. Issues discussed in past meetings include:
- Creating realistic expectations
- Dealing with ambivalence about taking medication
- Addressing drug and alcohol use
- Considering ways of communicating
- Dealing with free time after school and weekends
- Helping adolescents with their depression and anxiety.
Many parents have found these confidential groups to be a valuable resource for finding resolutions to difficult situations. Some appreciate having a chance to express their frustrations, and often discover that they are not alone with their particular concerns and struggles.
Participants must agree that all information discussed and shared is to remain confidential and kept within the group. If you have specific questions about the group or would like more information, please contact us.

Meetings are at Beacon High School in room #109, 6:30 to 8:00 P.M.
